The third grade math curriculum covers a variety of topics while allowing students to further explore important math ideas and concepts.
Third graders continue to apply their knowledge of basic addition and subtraction facts in order to solve problems with 2 and 3 digit numbers. Word problems are also incorporated with addition and subtraction problems also.
Third grade is the first year students learn, practice and apply multiplication and division operations. They build up their meaning of multiplication and division along with their basic fact knowledge. Third graders are expected to apply that knowledge to solve problems including area, perimeter, graphing and finding equivalent fractions. Additional topics include geometry, word problems, fractions, and measurement.
